Local goat meat is now available!
Say YES to local meat and NO to the industrial food complex! Three Charm Farm is now offering goat meat in packages of 25-40+ pounds – no individual cuts.
It is a critical part of our mission that all of our animals are raised humanely, happily, and holistically. Our goats are raised by their mothers, in fresh air and sunshine until they are ready to be weaned and put out on pasture with Premium hay, grains, minerals, kelp, and herbal supplements.
When they are weaned, they spend their days, playing, wrestling, snuggling, and having the best goat life! Our goats are not vaccinated, and only receive antibiotics when holistic approaches fail, which is rare.

Why Local Matters
- Economics: Buying local keeps money circulating locally creating economic resilience for small farms, and businesses; it creates local jobs and opportunities. When you buy a meat package from us, you will receive 10% off of all dairy product purchases during this calendar year!
- Supply Chain: Buying meat directly eliminates the supply chain! We provide complete transparency - ask us anything! You can trust, and have security that your food is safe and humanely raised. When you buy from us, you have FREE access to all of our Open Days for you and your family! We are proud to offer Premium Quality Meat raised outside of the industrial food supply chain to our local community!
- Environment: The average American meal travels 1,500 miles before it is eaten; that is a big carbon footprint in a time when climate change is severely affecting farms - ask us the many ways it has/is directly affecting us! Starting in 2012 we started working with the NRCS to protect all of the acreage we use through rainwater run-off mitigation, new wastewater treatment for our barn; NEVER using chemicals/herbicides or pesticides on our pastures; and managing parasites in our livestock by utilizing holistic practices.
- Flavor and Texture: Goats being raised for meat are almost always young males (wethers). When they are processed, they are less than a year old, making their meat tender and flavorful without a ‘gamey’ flavor.

Goat Meat Is Lower In Saturated Fat Than Other Red Meat
By comparison, meat products such as beef and lamb contain significantly higher quantities of saturated fat. For example, per 100 grams, 80% lean beef contains 6.16 grams, whereas cooked lamb shank has 5.6 grams. Thus, leaner meats like goat meat may be a beneficial alternative to foods like fatty beef for individuals wanting to lower their LDL cholesterol
Goat Meat Is One of the Leanest Sources of Protein
Pork belly contains some protein, but due to its sizeable fat content, it is also a high-calorie food. Goat meat is a protein-dense food, with 100 grams of cooked goat meat containing 27.1 grams of protein for only 143 calories. Lean protein sources like goat meat can be particularly beneficial for individuals with high protein targets or those trying to lose weight while still getting sufficient protein to protect against muscle loss.
Goat Meat is a Rich Source of B Vitamins
100 grams of goat meat provides nearly 50% of the daily value for riboflavin (vitamin B2) and vitamin B12. Additionally, it contains approximately 25% of the daily value of niacin, also known as vitamin B3. In addition to its B vitamin content, goat meat also offers a good provision of a vitamin-like nutrient called choline.
People Who Should Avoid Goat Meat
Although goat meat has various health benefits, it is not recommended for everyone. People who should avoid goat meat include the following:
- People with liver diseases: Because goat meat is high in protein, those with liver disease should avoid it because too much protein can strain the liver.
- People who generate more heat: People with a high fever, phlegm, toothache, ulcers, acne, or hemorrhoids should avoid eating goat meat since it can worsen these issues.
- Children: High amounts of goat meat are not recommended for children, because their livers and kidneys cannot handle too much protein.
