Small Livestock Hoof Care and Three Charm Farm are offering goat disbudding services at the farm this year.
We have 15 minute time-slots per goat and are ONLY offering this service on Wednesday afternoons. Because time-slots are very short, it is important that you are on time. If you are not, you will have to wait to see if there is an opening that we can squeeze you into. If not, you will have to buy new tickets.
There will be a ‘hold-harmless’ agreement to sign when you arrive, along with suggested aftercare recommendations. Please see FAQs for your appointment prep. We are NOT veterinarians and our suggestions are based on our experience which do not take the place of veterinary treatment or advise.
DATES: This service is offered Wednesday afternoons from April 1, 2026 though May 27, 2026
TIMES: Appointments are every 15 minutes from 2:00 PM to 4:30PM
COST: $17.85

Frequently Asked Questions
At what age should I bring my goats to be disbudded?
We will ONLY disbud goats that are between 3 – 10 days old
Do you guarantee there will be no horn or scur growth?
No, we do not. It could happen, especially in males.
Will you re-do disbudding at a later date if horns/scurs grow?
No.
Is there a risk that my goat will have swelling, fever, or other health issues because of disbudding
Yes. In our experience when we have done the disbudding, we have only ever had some swelling, and it has been very mild. They almost always bounce back without pain within in minutes
What do I do if my goat has problems as a result of disbudding?
Apply a soft ice pack to it’s head a few times per day for a couple of days and/or call your veterinarian.
How should I prep my goat for my appointment?
Make sure they nurse right before coming. Bring a bottle of Mom’s milk with a nipple that they are familiar with (if possible). If bringing several in a crate, I suggest making sure they are packed tightly together for travel.
What if my goat is more than 10 days old?
Then we will not disbud. You will have to call your vet.
How long will it take to disbud my goat?
It can be as quick as a couple of minutes, or as much as 10 minutes. We take each case individually. Some need extra recovery time and we want to ensure that post-disbudding each goat kid is up and moving and feeling ok. If they are not, we will recommend that you take your goat to your vet.
Do you administer any pain medication?
We do not, and cannot, as we are not veterinarians.
I’m squeamish and don’t want to watch or be a part of the process-is this ok?
Absolutely! We will take care of everything and you can go visit the other side of the farm or sit in your car. We will come get you when it’s over!
I want to be a part of the process, is this ok?
You may watch, ask questions, test burn a piece of wood, but you may not do any of the actual work. If you would like to be trained on how to do this, please ask and we will set up a separate time and fee.
I can’t make it on Wednesdays, can you do this on another day/time?
I’m sorry we can’t. This is our busiest time of the year and the only time we will be offering this service. Late spring or early summer, Small livestock Hoof Care will be offering door-to-door disbudding (along with other services). Her contact information is available upon request!
Will Small Livestock Hoof Care being offering hoof trimming and other services at your farm?
No. You will have to make a separate appointment with her to come to your farm, but she would love to help you!!
Will you do CD&T vaccinations for our goats?
No, we are not veterinarians.
